IHI Welcomes Tom Violante to our Home Inspection team! Tom Violante began his trades career as a carpenter under the tutelage of his father and worked on many construction projects in the New Haven County area. His grandfather, a well-known stonemason, built many of the masonry projects at Yale University and in the New Haven areas, as well as the pizza oven at the world-famous Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana on Wooster Street in New Haven Connecticut. Most recently he was the General Contractor and lead carpenter for the On Broadway Restaurant in North Haven Connecticut, and has completed a wide range of remodeling projects for various clients throughout Connecticut. He was one of the first state-certified energy auditors under the ConnSave program, sponsored by the United Illuminating Co., Northeast Utilities, Connecticut Light &Power Co., Southern Connecticut Gas Co. and the Connecticut Natural Gas Co. ConnSave was designed to help consumers save money on energy use by conservation, insulation and infiltration improvement methods. He completed the first energy auditor course held in Connecticut by Cornerstone Energy, a well-known alternative energy and fuel institute in Maine, and went on to inspect thousands of homes in the Greater New Haven area. This invaluable training brings depth to IHI in the area of energy conservation, adding value by affording the buyer specific recommendations on improving the living envelopes efficiency and assuring that the HVAC systems are operating at their optimum performance specifications. Tom has completed the Home Inspector course offered by the Home Reporter Systems, Hookerton, North Carolina and is in the process of completing his State of Connecticut home inspection training and internship through IHI's resident intern program. Tom currently holds Connecticut Home Inspection Permit #56
